We can only treat pregnant patients that are in the first trimester (13 weeks) of their pregnancy at the time of the appointment.
  • Are your sites accessible to the disabled and wheelchair users?
Our clinics are at ground level, there are no steps to get from the car park to the treatment rooms. If you have certain access requirements, please contact us to discuss.
  • Will my health insurance cover my treatment?
Each insurer is different and will stipulate whether sports therapy and deep tissue massage is or is not covered by your policy. In most cases, our treatments are not covered by insurers.
  • Are your treatments available for children?
We are able to treat children aged 10 and up at the time of an appointment. Patients aged under 18 will need a parent/carer to attend the appointment with them.
  • How many appointments will I need?
This will depend on your ailment and the personalised treatment we offer you. Every patient is different so it will depend on your first session with us.
  • Are your treatments suitable for young people?
All of our treatments are suitable for children and young adults aged between 10 and 18 at the time of an appointment. Patients aged under 18 will need a parent/carer to attend the appointment with them.
  • What if I need to cancel or rearrange my appointment?
If you need to cancel, then that’s not a problem. If you cancel within 36 hours prior to the start time hours of your appointment, then a fee is chargeable. For full details view our booking policies here: Polices & FAQs To cancel or rearrange your appointment, either email us at hello@shieldsportstherapy.co.uk, call on 01243 256672 or reach out to us on Facebook.
  • How long will my appointment last?
Most of our sessions last 45 minutes, this gives us time to discuss your condition, assess, and treat it. We may suggest 30-minute sessions for soft tissue treatments.
  • What should I wear to my appointment?
We recommend wearing something comfortable and loose that can be easily removed if required for treatment.
  • Do you offer free parking?
Yes! There is plenty of free parking at all of our sites.

We accept cash and all major cards. You are only able to pay by card when booking online.
  • How clean is the clinic?
We do everything we can to ensure that your appointment with us is as hygienic as it can be. A 15-minute gap between patients is in place to ensure that all surfaces can be properly sanitised. We use gloves during manual therapy treatments to avoid skin to skin contact, and provide sanitiser for patients.
  • What if I decide that I want to stop treatment during the session?
If during your treatment, you would like the massage pressure to decrease then please communicate with us and we will act accordingly. As practitioners, we are trained to only use techniques suitable to avoid this and we will never act with ill-intent. However, if you decide during your session that you feel uncomfortable and do not wish to proceed then please let us know.
  • Will I need to remove my clothes to be treated?
Clothing may inhibit the treatment process, so in order to maximise the benefit of your appointment with us we may ask you to remove some of your clothing. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with this, so we will always discuss this with you at the time. Towels or couch tissue will be ready to cover certain areas if this will make you feel more comfortable during your appointment. We will never ask you to remove any garment is not relevant to the treatment.
  • Will I be bruised after my treatment?
Some patients may experience bruising around treated areas. This can be expected with more forceful treatments, but in any event isn’t a contraindication you should be concerned about. In the unlikely event that the bruising is present for more than a week, you should consult your doctor.
